Remember These Things to Stay Happy When Life Gets Tough

You know what it’s like sometimes. It feels hard to stay afloat when things are tough. But these are the times when you need to look after yourself, be kind and support yourself through it. Remember, this too will end. Hard times come and hard times go. In the meantime, here are some things to remember and hold onto until the sun comes back into your life.

1. Let Go

Don’t let your happiness depend on externals, whether it’s other people’s achievements and expectations, or some abstract social media life fantasy. Let go of trying to impress people or keep up with the world and choose to be happy your way.

2. It’s okay to be not okay

Sometimes things don’t go right. You make a mistake; you don’t get the promotion, you might get sick. Allow yourself to feel angry or hurt or sad. Give yourself some space, feel the emotions and give yourself time to recover. Soon it will be another experience to learn from and leave behind. And if you need help, ask for it. Whether it’s a hug or advice or even some counseling, it’s ok to ask for whatever you need.

3. You can do it

No matter what sort of tough time you’re having right now, look back and remember when you have gone through challenges before. You made it through then; you’ll make it through this time. Believe in yourself and your capacity to do what you need to do to overcome whatever is in your way. Guaranteed you’ll come out the other side with more self-knowledge and better equipped to deal with whatever life throws at you.

4.Be kind to yourself

When things are going badly, be extra kind to yourself and ramp up the self-care. Take some time off if you truly need it! Have your favorite food, eat some chocolate, have a long luxurious bath, go for a walk in nature. Do whatever you need to feel better.

5. Stay in the present

It’s easy to get caught up in berating yourself for past mistakes or getting into anxious knots about the future. Staying in the present is vital for dealing with what’s right in front of you. Hindsight is only useful if you learn from it. Otherwise, you’re just beating yourself up for no good reason.

Learn to stay in and appreciate the present moment. No matter what’s going on around you, there will always be something to enjoy and be grateful for, even if it’s just your cup of coffee! But chances are there are a lot of things in your life that are still good. Look around, notice and appreciate what you have right now.

Perk Up! Instantly Boost Your Mood

Most of us, at one time or another, have been so worried or anxious that we wanted to throw up. Maybe you’ve even gone past that point to where stress has made you physically sick. Perhaps you’ve heard that story about how actors, as they take the stage, will frequently become ill before going on. You may have felt that queasiness yourself when giving that pitch or proposal.

This sensation is because your body reacts to your mood. When you’re happy, your body feels lighter, and pain diminishes. Sadness, on the other hand, causes you to slump. And worry can cause you to slouch or even break out into a cold sweat.

Often, we’re not even aware of our current mood. Have you ever had a bad day at work and when you get home, some tiny irritation causes you to take out your bad day on the person in front of you?You might not have even realized that you were under that much stress or had grown angry.

So, it follows that boosting your mood starts with an awareness of yourself. Think about it this way: the body and mind are interconnected. By noticing what’s going on with certain parts of your body, you’ll have a clearer picture of where your mood is right now.

Use this package to become more aware of and in control of your moods.
